Millard North's Hunter Sallis receives Creighton offer, adds to growing Division I list

Sophomore year just got a whole lot sweeter for Millard North’s Hunter Sallis: the 15-year-old wing recently received a basketball offer from Creighton University.

“I feel good, still cant believe it,” Sallis said. Sallis is on the verge of taking the Omaha hoops scene by storm. After playing limited minutes on varsity as a freshman, averaging only 4.3 points in 22 games, he's now destined for a bigger role on the Mustang squad this upcoming season - not to mention Millard North needing to fill in for graduated talent, such as Nick Ferrarini.

He's already been drawing Division I attention, with both Ole Miss and Drake previously offering him. Creighton will not be the last school to give him an offer. The hometown offer, though, is extra special to him.

“I didn’t see it coming, and it means a lot coming from coach Mac,” Sallis said. Greg McDermott and Creighton have a history of successfully recruiting within city limits. Omaha North’s Justin Patton and Omaha Benson's Khyri Thomas had standout careers at Creighton, and both have gone on to the NBA within the past two years. Former Omaha Burke guard and Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year Shereef Mitchell is committed to Creighton. He's currently at Sunrise Christian Academy, where he'll develop for a year before stepping onto the court as a Bluejay.
