Cinderella Storm gear up for Thunderbirds in quarterfinal rematch
Rematches are the best matches. This Friday, third-seed Bellevue West will play host to eleventh-seed Elkhorn South in the Class A quarterfinals. The Thunderbirds had a field day against the Storm in week four, cashing in a 38-3 domination on the road. South is steamrolling with momentum following a first round victory over sixth-seed Lincoln High — an upset that shocked the state. “Just try to take away big plays, and stop their run game,” Elkhorn South defensive back Shae Wright said. “At the end of the day, we are just going to trust that all of us are going to do our job." The Thunderbirds are coming off a 17-10 win over fourteenth-seed Kearney, making their record 25-2 at home since 2015. “We’re feeling good going in, but like everyone says, it’s always hard to beat a team twice,” Bellevue West wide receiver Nate Sullivan said. West's high-scoring offense, which is averaging 44.3 points per game, will try to bounce back from last week's season-low 17 against the Bearcats. The Cinderella Storm look to extend their winning streak to four games. Catch the 7 p.m. matchup on Friday, November 2 at Bellevue West.
