Recap: Day Two of River Cities Tourney Sets Stage for Bracket Play

Following an action-packed second day of AAU ball, the 2018 OSA River Cities Summer Tip Off has once again come to its nightly halt. Our staff was at the Iowa West Field House to catch all the action; results from the key games we attended are listed below.

OSA 16U Adidas 70 Nebraska Select 16U 28

Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Omaha Central) scored 19, Zach LaFave (Elkhorn South) 11 for the Crusaders. Nick Saiz (Lexington) added 12 for Select. (3) Nebraska Select 16U will play (3) Team Factory 16U Black Foster in 16U Platinum’s consolation bracket B8 at 3:35 p.m. tomorrow.

OSA Adidas 16U 75 Iowa Elite 16U 36

Jadin Booth (Omaha Westside) led all with 23 points, Haggan Hilgendorf (Adams Central) 15, Maxwell Polk (Omaha Central) 12 for OSA. The Crusaders, having already won their first bracket game this evening (mentioned below), will play All Iowa Attack 10th Red tomorrow at 11:15 a.m. in 16U Platinum B5 bracket play.

OSA 17U Adidas 90 Illinois Rage 17U 65

Akol Arop (Omaha Creighton Prep) and Baylor Scheierman (Aurora) led the way with 15 points apiece to advance the Crusaders to bracket play undefeated on the weekend. John Tonje (Omaha Central) scored 14, and Shereef Mitchell (Sunrise Christian Academy) cashed in 13 points and four steals. Top-seed OSA will face second-seed Lincoln Supreme 17U Black in 17U Platinum bracket B1 tomorrow at 10:10 a.m.

OSA 15U Adidas 69 Minnesota Top Dawgs 15U 45

Hunter Sallis (Millard North) headlined OSA’s afternoon performance with 12 points on the game. The Crusaders were adept at spreading the floor and thus allowed most players to score a fair amount. 3-0 on the weekend, (1) OSA 15U Adidas will square off against (2) JC Hoops 15U at the top of the 15U bracket tomorrow morning at 9:05 a.m.

Nebraska Select 17U 100 Iowa United Select 17U 49

Three players combined for 47 of Select’s 100 points: Jacob Herbek (Grand Island Central Catholic) with 18, Jackson Hirschfeld (Centennial) 17, and Tanner Wietfeld (North Bend Central) 12. Check out (3) Nebraska Select 17U tomorrow when they face (3) Panthers 1 17U in the 17U Platinum consolation bracket B9.

Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Omaha Central) led the way for the Crusaders with 14 points in their first bracket game. Four others also scored in double digits for OSA: PJ Ngambi (Omaha Westside) with 13, Xavier Watts (Omaha Burke) 12, Jadin Booth (Omaha Westside) 11, and Maxwell Polk (Omaha Central) 10. OSA’s defense, as usual, was impressive, forcing a notable amount of turnovers. As previously stated, the Crusaders will move on to play All Iowa Attack 10th Red tomorrow at 11:15 a.m. in 16U Platinum B5 bracket play.
