Week 3: 2018 Class A football power rankings

We're proud to present our week three football power rankings, brought to you by PRIME Roofing:
10. Lincoln High (NR, 1-2)
After one of the most gruesome stretches a team could ask for (Bellevue West, Grand Island, and Omaha Creighton Prep), the Links escape week three with a 1-2 record. Perhaps the most unsuspected win, Lincoln High beat then-top-ranked Creighton Prep 42-21.
9. Elkhorn South (9, 3-0)
The Storm have yet to see another top ten team, but have managed to outweigh opponents 100-32 — highlighted by a 56-6 win over Lincoln North Star this week.
8. Omaha North (4, 1-2)
The Vikings have slipped to number eight following a 28-14 loss against Millard West. Their other quality loss was against Creighton Prep in week one.
7. Omaha Westside (7, 3-0)
Brett Froendt and the Warriors remained perfect on the year with a 29-14 win over Lincoln Southeast, despite a 14-point scare in the third quarter.
6. Millard West (8, 2-1)
The Wildcats bounced back from a 21-point week two loss to Omaha Burke with a 28-14 win over Omaha North on Thursday.
5. Millard South (6, 3-0)
Millard South breezed past cross-town rival Millard North on Friday night by a score of 35-10. Their season remains spotless.
4. Omaha Creighton Prep (1, 2-1)
Reid Burke’s Junior Jays suffered their first loss of the season on Friday night against Lincoln High. The 42-21 defeat drops Prep to 2-1 on the season.
3. Grand Island (5, 3-0)
The Islanders cashed in a 42-14 week three victory against Papillion-La Vista. They have yet to win within even close to a single digit margin, and it might stay that way for a few more weeks.
2. Bellevue West (3, 3-0)
The “Playmakers in Purple” took on previously-undefeated Papillion-La Vista South in a battle for Sarpy County. They came out with a dominant 51-16 win to stay perfect on the season.
1. Omaha Burke (2, 3-0)
The Bulldogs handled Omaha Central in a 35-7 fashion to slide them into the number one spot — the first time this season that Burke has been number one in our rankings.
Others receiving votes: Lincoln Pius X, Lincoln Southwest, Elkhorn, Kearney
