Week 4: 2018 Class A football power rankings
We’re proud to present our week four Class A football power rankings, brought to you by PRIME Roofing:
10. Elkhorn South (9, 3-1)
After a hot first three weeks on the gridiron, the Storm fell to then-second-ranked Bellevue West by a final score of 38-3.
9. Kearney (NR, 3-1)
Despite a week one setback against Grand Island, the Bearcats have now gained three wins in a row, Their most recent is a 35-7 victory over Papillion-La Vista South.
8. Lincoln High (10, 2-2)
Following an upset over Omaha Creighton Prep in week three, the Links skidded past crosstown foe Lincoln Pius X 19-16 in front of a very packed crowd.
7. Omaha Westside (7, 4-0)
While Cole Payton and Co. have yet to take on a ranked opponent, they’ve managed to crank out a perfect 4-0 season thus far and defeated Gretna 49-13 this week.
6. Millard South (5, 3-1)
TJ Urban and his Patriots fell victim to their first loss of the season as they were defeated on Friday by in district foe Millard West, 34-27, in overtime.
5. Millard West (6, 3-1)
After being halted in week two by Omaha Burke, the Wildcats have won two straight with Friday night’s 34-27 overtime win over Millard South.
4. Omaha Creighton Prep (4, 3-1)
Tim Johnk’s Junior Jays bounced back from a 21-point week three loss to Lincoln High with a 35-14 Thursday night win over Millard North on the road.
3. Grand Island (3, 4-0)
The Islanders continued to roll in week four with a 56-0 victory against North Platte on Friday.
2. Bellevue West (2, 4-0)
Michael Huffman’s “Playmakers in Purple” put up the least amount of points they have all season, but still managed to pull out a dominant 38-3 win at then-ninth-ranked Elkhorn South on Friday night.
1. Omaha Burke (1, 4-0)
The Bulldogs still remain on top of our power rankings following week four. They defeated previously-eighth-ranked Omaha North 41-24 to remain perfect on the season.
